Description	:	Almeda's parents were Jacob & Martha (Shawley) Martin. Almeda, age 17, & William R. Ray, age 18, were married by Rev. R. Whitehead in Memphis, Scotland Co, MO on January 5, 1879. They had three children: James Ira, Florence "Bella" Kathleen, & John Mace. ----- On June 10, 1880, William & Almeda (Alunda), ages 19, lived in Miller, Scotland Co, MO where he supported them by farming. Read More	Almeda's parents were Jacob & Martha (Shawley) Martin. Almeda, age 17, & William R. Ray, age 18, were married by Rev. R. Whitehead in Memphis, Scotland Co, MO on January 5, 1879. They had three children: James Ira, Florence "Bella" Kathleen, & John Mace. ----- On June 10, 1880, William & Almeda (Alunda), ages 19, lived in Miller, Scotland Co, MO where he supported them by farming. Their son, James I., was 4 months old. They moved to Toledo, Lewis Co, WA in 1886 where their son, John Mace, was born in March 1888. This was where William R. & Almeda (Armeda) C., ages 38 & 37, were living on June 2, 1900. They owned a farm on Third Street, & William had a job as a carpenter. They had been married 21 years; Almeda had given birth to three children: Ira J., age 20; Florence B., 17; & John M., 12. Ira worked in the logging industry as a teamster. William's nephew from MO, James H. More, age 22, lived with them & had a job logging. On April 18, 1910, William R. & Almeda C., ages 49 & 48, were still on their farm in Todedo where he had continued working as a carpenter. They had been married 31 years. Their children Ira & Florence had married; their youngest son, John M., age 22, worked doing odd jobs. William's nephew, Arthur C. Ray, age 20, from MO lived with them & was a logger in a logging camp. On January 23, 1920, William R. & Almeda, ages 59 & 58, still lived in their home on a farm in Toledo where William was in the construction business as a carpenter. The local school teacher, Fred Martin, age 41, born in MO was a boarder in their home. William & Almeda moved to Centralia, Lewis Co, WA sometime in 1920 after the above census was taken. On April 3, 1930, they owned a home on Center St. valued at $2500. William had a job in a local factory as a carpenter. "55th Anniversary is Marked With Dinner Milestone Celebrated by Gathering of Family - Four Generations Represented Mr. and Mrs. J. Owen Losh entertained at dinner last evening at their home in compliment to the latter's parents, Mr. and Mrs. W.R. Ray, the occasion celebrating the 55 anniversary of their marriage. A delicious three-course menu was served at 5:30 o'clock, the table attractively appointed and decorated with poinsettias and lighted red tapers. A feature was the elaborated decorated wedding cake. Mr. Ray was married in Memphis, Mo., to Miss Almeda Martin in 1879. They moved to Washington in 1886, making their home at Toledo, after which they located in Centralia on Center street in 1920. He is 73 years of age and his wife, 72. They had three children and there are now four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Present last evening were four generations, Mrs. Ray, Mrs. Losh, Mrs. Ramsaur and little Miss Nancy Lee Ramsaur. The entire family, with the exception of two grandchildren residing out of the city, was in attendance. Covers were placed for Mr. and Mrs. Ira Ray, Mr. and Mrs. John M. Ray, Mr and Mrs. Fred Ramsaur and little daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Greene, Mrs. Nancy Hook, Mr. and Mrs. J.T. Lewis and daughter, Georgia, of Chehalis, Miss Jeanette Ray, the honor guests and hosts." Centralia Daily Chronicle Saturday, January 6, 1934 ----- "Birthday Dinner Mrs. W.R. Ray was a delightful hostess, Tuesday evening at their home at a dinner party, honoring the 70th birthday anniversary of Mr. Ray. A delectable menu was served from a long table centered with a beautiful bouquet of red roses and greenery. Covers were laid for Mrs. O.A. Haley and Miss Helen Ailen, Santa Ana, Cal., Miss C. Lee Martin of Santa San, Calif., Mrs. C. Lee of Tenino, Mrs. R.D. Carison, Bucoda, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Greene, Mr. and Mrs. John M. Ray and daughter, Janet, Ira Ray, William Lee Ray, Mrs. Florence Martin, Miss Kathleen Martin and the honor guest and hostess." Centralia Daily Chronicle Thursday, August 21, 1930 "Mr. and Mrs. John M. Ray were delightful hosts when they entertained at dinner yesterday complimenting each of their mothers, Mrs. J.P. Cole of Yakima, and Mrs. W.R. Ray of Centralia. The delicious menu was served at their home on Ford's Prairie, covers being laid for the following: Mr. and Mrs. W.O. Muehlenbruck and daughter, Ida Lee of Dash Point; Mr. and Mrs. Glen Shanck and Mr. L.L. Covey of Puyallup; Mrs. Paul Mitchell of Naches, Mr. and Mrs. Guy Summers of Portland, Mr. and Mrs. W.R. Ray, Mrs. Florence Martin, Miss Kathleen Martin, Miss Janette Ray, the honor guest and the host and hostess." Centralia Daily Chronicle Monday, May 11, 1931 William died on May 13, 1935. "Mrs. Ray Honored on 78th Birthday Mr. and Mrs. J. Owen Losh were birthday dinner hosts Saturday evening complimenting the latter's mother, Mrs. Almeda Ray, on her 78th anniversary; The table was centered with a bouquet of spring blossoms and slender lighted tapers. Immediate members of the family bidden to honor Mrs. Ray were Mr. and Mrs. John M. Ray, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence brill and son, John Lawrence; Mrs. Ira Ray, of Longview, and Mrs. and Mrs. Fred Ramsaur and daughters, Nancy Lee and Lenora Rae, and the hosts." Centralia Daily Chronicle Wednesday, March 29, 1939 On April 4, 1940, Almeda C., age 79, lived in Centralia on West Maple Street with her daughter, Forence R. Lask, age 57, & her husband, J.O.
