Description	:	CHANUTE TIMES, MARCH 27, 1908 SAD DEATH Last Saturday evening, John Weaver, a young man living about seven miles southeast of Humboldt walked into the little city to visit a married sister there. He was not very familiar with the locality and arriving after 11 oclock at night in the dark, he seems to have made a mistake and got to the wrong house. Mrs. Marvin Barrackman a near neighbor of Mr. Weaver's sister was awakened about 11 by someone at the door. She heard him try the front door and then go around to the back door, finally returning to the front... Read More	CHANUTE TIMES, MARCH 27, 1908 SAD DEATH Last Saturday evening, John Weaver, a young man living about seven miles southeast of Humboldt walked into the little city to visit a married sister there. He was not very familiar with the locality and arriving after 11 oclock at night in the dark, he seems to have made a mistake and got to the wrong house. Mrs. Marvin Barrackman a near neighbor of Mr. Weaver's sister was awakened about 11 by someone at the door. She heard him try the front door and then go around to the back door, finally returning to the front door. She aroused her husband who went to the front door with revolver in hand. He opened the door slightly and called to young Weaver but he failed to answer. A bulldog that was in the house rushed out and attacked young Weaver. In order to escape from the dog, he made a rush for the open door. The boy seems to have been so badly frightened that he did not speak. Mr. Barrackman, thinking he was being attacked, fired at the intruder and he fell to the floor and died in a few minutes, being shot in the head. It is a most lamentable occurrence. Mr. Barrackman evidently did not intend to harm an innocent person, but he was excited and entirely too ready with the gun. Note: bio info provided by Vickie (#47851655)
