Description	:	from the Oskaloosa Independent, Friday, 9 September 1921: "John Marion Litton, second son of Oliver and Nettie Litton, was born at Oneida, Scott Co., Tnn., July 4, 1849, and passed away at his home north of Oskaloosa, Kan., Sept. 5, 1921, aged 72 years, 2 months and 1 day. Sept. 20, 1879, he was united in marriage to Capitolia Case. To this union were born 9 children, 4 of whom preceded him in infancy. He is survived by his wife and five children, Mrs. Ed. Church of Savonburg, Kansas, Nellie Litton, at home, Mrs. Fred Piper of Newton, Kas., Albert... Sept. 20, 1879, he was united in marriage to Capitolia Case. To this union were born 9 children, 4 of whom preceded him in infancy. He is survived by his wife and five children, Mrs. Ed. Church of Savonburg, Kansas, Nellie Litton, at home, Mrs. Fred Piper of Newton, Kas., Albert Litton, who is now stationed at Tientisin, China, Clyde Litton of Reno, Nev.; seven grandchildren, seven brothers, and two sisters. He came to Kansas as a young man of 20 years and has since made his home here. He was a pioneer of this country and widely known as an industrious and upright citizen. The funeral was held at home on Wednesday afternoon by Rev. Vigour, pastor of the Methodist Church, and burial was in Pleasant View, both services being very largely attended."
