Read More	On Tuesday morning a terrible disaster occurred at old Clyde shaft, owned by the Boone Valley Coal & Ry. Co., in which the life of a human being was crushed out of existence by a fall of slate. John Brunton was at work in his room with his two brothers about 9 o'clock when a mass of rock and slate fell from the roof. He was standing in a stooping position when this mass of rock fell on him, striking him between the head and the shoulders. The heavy weight pinned him to the ground and it took some time for the brothers to remove the rock and slate. When they finally extricated him it was found that he was badly injured. He recovered consciousness and was removed to the home of his parents in the Fifth ward. Medical assistance was called but the unfortunate man died before anything could be done to alleviate his sufferings. It was found that his skull was fractured and that his chest was badly crushed. The deceased was a young man of about 21 years who was married about two weeks ago. He is a son of Robert Brunton, foreman of the mine, and a brother of William Brunton, the Fifth ward barber. The funeral will be held from the First Baptist church this afternoon at 3:30 o'clock and the remains interred in Linwood. The bereaved wife and parents of the deceased have the sympathy of the community.
