Friday morning John McBride, who was very low for several weeks, died at his home at Ayrshire. The funeral was held Monday. Services were conducted in the Ayrshire Catholic church, Father Smith officiating. The burial was in St. John's cemetery south of this city. There was a large attendance of relatives and friends. Mr. McBride was born at Boston, Massachusetts. He came to this county when a small boy. They were old residents of Highland township. Mr. McBride lived in this city when a young man. He was employed in M.F. Kerwick's hardware store for some time. Perhapss twenty years ago he opened a hardware store at Ayrshire. He enjoyed a substantial patronage. He was married at that place about fifteen years ago to Miss Nellie Fagan. Mr. McBride's death is mourned by his widow, two brothers and four sisters. The brothers are Thomas and Patrick of this place. The sisters are Mrs. J.P. Goddard of Streator, Illinois, and Mrs. Geo. Steil, and Mrs. L.W. Goddard and Miss Julia McBride, well known to our local readers. The writer regrets deeply to learn of the death of Mr. McBride. We knew him in Emmetsburg when he was only a boy and we always found him courteous, accommodating, manly and upright. Those by whom he was employed considered him faithful and dependable and entertained a warm regard for him. He was a gentleman of good habits and he gave creditable example to those with whom he mingled. He built up a good business at Ayrshire and he looked carefully after his duties until his declining health made it impossible for him to give it the attention it deserved. All who knew Mr. McBride will regret to learn of his passing. We offer sincere sympathy to Mrs. McBride and to the brothers and sisters in their bereavement.
