Description	:	Georgetown SC, March 20 [1954] - John Milledge Turner, 70, of Georgetown died this afternoon at Memorial Hospital following a stroke suffered Tuesday. Burial in Elmwood Cemetery. Mr. Turner was born in Edgefield county, son of the late William Edgar Turner and the late Mrs. Dora Outz Turner. He came to Georgetown in 1903 and worked as an electrician for the old Atlantic Coast Lumber Corporation until the plant closed in the early 1930’s. Read More	Georgetown SC, March 20 [1954] - John Milledge Turner, 70, of Georgetown died this afternoon at Memorial Hospital following a stroke suffered Tuesday. Burial in Elmwood Cemetery. Mr. Turner was born in Edgefield county, son of the late William Edgar Turner and the late Mrs. Dora Outz Turner. He came to Georgetown in 1903 and worked as an electrician for the old Atlantic Coast Lumber Corporation until the plant closed in the early 1930’s. He was a connected with the light department of the city of Georgetown for a number of years and was superintendent of that department when he resigned in 1946 to accept a job with the International Paper Company. He retired in 1949 and was custodian of the church property of Duncan Church for several years. Mr. Turner was a member of Duncan Memorial Methodist Church and was a member of the board of stewards of the church. He was also a member of the Men’s Bible Class. He is survived by his widow; three sons, J. . Turner, Jr., of Alexandria VA, F. Gordon Turner of Pawley’s Island and Frank T. Turner of Georgetown; three daughters, Mrs. W. E. Hughes, Jr., of Charleston, Mrs. Cecil T. Jeffords of Asheville NC, and Mrs. C. Preston, Jr. of Cypress FL; five brothers, Holly and Heyward Turner, both of Greenwood, Fred of State Park, Frank of Columbia, and Coke of Ninety Six; a sister, Mrs. Evelyn Timmerman of Edgefield, and ten grandchildren. The State, March 21, 1954. John Milledge TURNER was a son of William Edgar TURNER and Emily Dora OUZTS, both of Edgefield County, South Carolina.
