In the death of John Mills we indeed have lost an esteemed citizen. Mr. Mills was born in the county of Tyrone, Ireland, 74 years ago, and has resided here 49 years. He was appointed postmaster for Lorraine in 1862 and held that office until he was summoned to go the way which we will all have to travel sooner or later. Mr. Mills discharged his duties satisfactorily to the government and the people, and his place will be very hard to fill. The remains were interred in the Methodist cemetery, close to his late residence, on Friday. A large number of friends and acquaintances following the body to its last resting place. The pallbearers were Messrs. Wm. Wilson, Stanton, Jas. Dickey, Fintona, Geo. Parker, Sheldon, Wm. Wilson, Relessey, Jas. Irwin, R. Holland, Lorraine. Rev. Mr. Woodgear of Rosemont, preached an eloquent and touching funeral sermon on the late Mr. Mills.
