Description	:	John M. Coffin was born December 11, 1824, in Randolph County, North Carolina, the son of John and Abigail (Hobbs) Coffin. On December 28, 1851, in Randolph County he married Martha Delphinia Fentress, and they were the parents of Louisa Jane, Abigail Saphrona, Thomas Newton, Matilda Caroline, Martha Eveline, Benjamin Franklin, Ellen, Cora, and John M. Martha Delphinia Coffin died near Linden, Dallas County, Iowa, on June 19, 1892. John became a Friends minister in 1866 and served the Greenwood Meeting in Hamilton County, Indiana; the Linden Meeting in Dallas County, Iowa; and Cedar Creek Meeting in... Read More	John M. Coffin was born December 11, 1824, in Randolph County, North Carolina, the son of John and Abigail (Hobbs) Coffin. On December 28, 1851, in Randolph County he married Martha Delphinia Fentress, and they were the parents of Louisa Jane, Abigail Saphrona, Thomas Newton, Matilda Caroline, Martha Eveline, Benjamin Franklin, Ellen, Cora, and John M. Martha Delphinia Coffin died near Linden, Dallas County, Iowa, on June 19, 1892. John became a Friends minister in 1866 and served the Greenwood Meeting in Hamilton County, Indiana; the Linden Meeting in Dallas County, Iowa; and Cedar Creek Meeting in Henry County. He was the assistant to Tamar Maddock, who became the first paid minister at Cedar Creek Meeting. On August 27, 1896, John married Mary M. Hockett, the widow of Alson G. Frazer. John died January 2, 1905. -o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o- AGED MAN RELEASED FROM SUFFERING PASSES AWAY AT HOSPITAL Monday forenoon [January 2, 1905] at the hospital here occurred the death of Mr. John Coffin, an aged resident of the Denova vicinity. About a week ago he fell causing a fracture of the limb, which owing to his advanced age caused his death. Mr. Coffin was past eighty. Mr. Coffin was taken to the hospital several months ago by relatives. One wet rainy day he was found wandering over the country in a dazed condition and unconscious of his troubles.
