Description	:	The third son of Morton E. and Harriet M. (Gregory) Braden, John received his early education in a country school to which he rode in a horse drawn bus. His second year of high school, however, was spent in Geneva, IN where he lived with his maternal grandfather, Mordecai Gregory. Subsequently returning to KS, John graduated from Eureka H.S., and attended KS State U for a year. Marrying Helen Ruth Brougher Aug. 30, 1930 in Eldorado, KS, Mr. Braden and his wife moved to the Braden family farm in 1935 following his mother's death. When WWII broke out, the couple chose to relocate in Wichita, KS, where both were employed in a defense plant. After the war, Mr. Braden was employed in road and highway construction, moving to Eureka in 1977. Both Bradens were members of the First United Methodist Church in that place. Two children, Billy Lee and Martha Helen were born to John and Helen Braden.
