Description	:	John Mori of Everly, 75 years, pioneer resident of Clay county, died Tuesday morning, July 28, 1931, at Colfax, Iowa, where he had been since July 3 to receive treatment for rheumatism. His son, George, of Everly, left for Colfax Monday of this week and was with his father during his last hours. Mr. and Mrs. Mori had lived in or near Everly for over fifty years, and during that period of time, had marked the growth of the country from its pioneer stages to its present development. Read More	John Mori of Everly, 75 years, pioneer resident of Clay county, died Tuesday morning, July 28, 1931, at Colfax, Iowa, where he had been since July 3 to receive treatment for rheumatism. His son, George, of Everly, left for Colfax Monday of this week and was with his father during his last hours. Mr. and Mrs. Mori had lived in or near Everly for over fifty years, and during that period of time, had marked the growth of the country from its pioneer stages to its present development. Funeral services will be held this afternoon, Thursday, at the George Mori home at Everly at two o'clock and at the Lutheran church of Lone Tree township at two-thirty o'clock. Rev. J.H. Schoom of Buffalo Center will conduct the services. Burial will be made in the Lutheran cemetery near the church. John Mori was born in Esbaph, Switzerland, October 15, 1855, and in 1878, he came to America and settled in Dubuque, Iowa, where for tow years he followed the occupation of butcher. In February 1880, he was married to Miss Caroline Mori of Dubuque. He came with his wife to Clay county in April 1880, and they settled on a farm in Waterford township, the home place now being the residence of their son, Frank. Five children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Mori, two girls and a boy preceding Mr. and Mrs. Mori in death. Two sons, George and Frank, survive, both being enterprising and successful farmers of Waterford township. In 1910, Mr. and Mrs. Mori retired from the farm and moved to Everly, residing on Ocheyedan street. There, Mrs. Mori passed away October 24, 1925. Last summer, Mr. Mori lived with his sons, and on October 28 of last year, he accompanied his friend and neighbor, John Stuhr, to Long Beach, California, to spend the winter. He returned to Everly in March, where he has since made his home. He was a man of splendid character and will long be remembered by his many friends and neighbors. Besides his two sons, Mr. Mori is survived by three grandsons and three granddaughters, all of Waterford township, and a sister residing in Switzerland.
