He was born Feb. 19, 1921, in Allen County, to Rhuda and Elnora Hilty Brenneman, who preceded him in death. On June 30, 1949, he married Carol Myrth Gerig, who died Oct. 27, 2006. Mr. Brenneman was a 1939 graduate of Gomer High School. He was a member of Lima Mennonite Church. He was a lifelong farmer. He was born Feb. 19, 1921, in Allen County, to Rhuda and Elnora Hilty Brenneman, who preceded him in death. On June 30, 1949, he married Carol Myrth Gerig, who died Oct. 27, 2006. Mr. Brenneman was a 1939 graduate of Gomer High School. He was a member of Lima Mennonite Church. He was a lifelong farmer. He and his wife founded and administered Brenneman Residential Home for 20 years. He was an active volunteer throughout the community. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and all their activities. Survivors include three sons, Brent A. (Joanne) Brenneman, of Spencerville, Brice B. (Lydia) Brenneman, of St. Marys, and Brent Brenneman, of Spencerville; a granddaughter, Kendra (Dustin) Diller; five grandsons, Kyle (Emily) Brenneman, Luke Brenneman, Jonathan Brenneman, Jameel Brenneman and Joseph Brenneman; a great-grandson, Jackson Diller; and a sister-in-law, Joy Gerig, of Ossian, Ind. He was preceded in death by a brother, Leland Brenneman; and two sisters, Marjorie Richer and Mary Florence Brenneman. Services will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Salem Mennonite Church, Lima. The Rev. David Elkins will officiate. Burial will be in Salem Mennonite Cemetery, Elida. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Chiles-Laman Funeral Homes, Shawnee Chapel, and 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Instead of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lima Mennonite Church or Lima Convalescent Home.
