Read More	THE SOLDIER CLIPPER 19 FEB 1903 John N. Vannote died Friday Feb. 13, at 1:10 o'clock a.m. at the home of his son, F. M. Vannote. Mr Vannote was born in New Jersey, August 16, 1834. He came to Kansas in the spring of 1860 and moved to Soldier Creek in the spring of 1870 and lived on the same farm until the time of his death. We feel that by his death Soldier Creek has lost a stanch friend and a good neighbor. During the last ten years Mr. Vannote has been a constant sufferer, and the last three weeks of his life he was confined to his bed under the loving care of a kind wife, his son and family and friends, who did all in their power to relieve his suffering. But alas; frail nature gave way and he was called to his last rest. His funeral was preached by Rev. McAfferty at the New Eden U. B. church Sunday, February 15th 1903 and the remains were laid to rest in the America City cemetery by the side of his children who had gone before him. In behalf of our friend and neighbor whom we have laid away we would thank the many friends for their kind assistance through sickness and in laying him away to his last rest. He leaves a wife, one son and three daughters. THE HAVENSVILLE REVIEW 19 FEB 1903 The funeral of Mr. John Vannote of Riley township was held in New Eden chapel Sunday, conducted by Rev. McCaferty of Corning. On account of the blizzard some relatives and many friends of the deceased were not permitted by their presence to pay a tribute of respect to an honored friend and neighbor. Mr. Vannote was among the very early settlers of south Nemaha, whose ranks are becoming so badly depleted. In looking back we are impressed with the good fruits of their well aimed lives in braving the perils and privations of the western prairies, coming to the present gerneration in greater blessings and privileges than were known to themselves. Uncle John Vannote was a kind hearted man, a loving husband and father. The many friends of the family extend heart felt sympathy in their great loss.
