| Description | : | John Eye was born October 18, 1824 in Pendleton County, VA(WV), son of John Eye, Sr. and Elizabeth Moyers Eye. He married Delilah Libbie Propst on September 2, 1849 in Pendleton County and had ten children, nine of whom were born in Pendleton County. In 1872 John Eye and his family moved from WV to Jones County, Iowa where he died March 14, 1900. Despite having a GAR marker placed on his grave, there is evidence that John Eye served with the 62nd Virginia Mounted Infantry, CSA, 1863-1865.
