Kemp received word that their brother, John Orton, passed away at Oskaloosa, Iowa on the morning of January 26, 1915. More than two months ago Mr. Orton went to Oskaloosa for medical treatment... John Orton, the only son of W. H. and Amilda Bean Orton, was born August 30, 1869 and at the time of his death was 45 years and 5 months old. From his earliest years he was a close observer and student. At school he took a classical course, graduating at College Springs College, Iowa in 1887. In 1889 he graduated from the state Normal at Peru, Nebraska... For a single year he taught school at Fairfax, Mo...Things at home demanded his attention and he returned to Fullerton to help his father in his business.... When the Farmers Elevator was organized he was its most active Director... The aeroplane possessed a fascination for him and he equipped himself with thorough and complete knowledge of the principles upon which it was built. So in his farm work he was scientific. Elected Director of the First National Bank of Fullerton, he became an earnest and close student of banking business.. The Scientific American was his favorite journal; he was a reader and student of the Motor Age and other mechanical magazines. He mastered thoroughly every subject in which he became interested... Surviving him is his father W. H. Orton of Fullerton who was at the bedside when the son passed away. He leaves one sister, Mrs. J. H. Kemp. For the last five years he made his home with Mr. and Mrs. Kemp....
