Read More	OBITUARY FOR JOHN PATRICK Extracted by Shirley Squires Oskaloosa Herald John Patrick was born in Austria in 1857 and died at his home near White City, Sept 28, 1907. He was united in marriage on July 4, 1889 to the wife, who with nine children, is left to mourn a kind husband and loving father. Mr. Patrick never knew the love of his mother, as she died in his early infancy. At a tender age, his father also died, leaving his son to care for himself and fight life's battles alone. Mr. Patrick was a coal miner by occupation, having worked twenty-four years in the mine. Last spring, he purchased a farm and expected to farm and keep his children at farm work. Saturday he was taken ill but did not consider himself dangerously sick until the morning of his death, one week later. The funeral services were held in Oskaloosa and interment was made at that place. Besides the immediate family, he leaves many friends to sorrow at his untimely death. Stephen had married a second wife, a widow Mary Kondiesko(never proven) and her son(Paul) was also called brother Grandfather John was in the army and also a miner. The Petrisko boys and Paul Kondiesko and Michael Kondiesko immigrated to Pa. Michael Kondiesko settled in PA, Michael Petrisko settled in New Jersey and Paul in Pa. It is believed grandfather lived in both states before coming to Iowa.. Grandfather John roomed with Peter Yarkosky in Iowa and Peter's sister Anna roomed with him after coming to the United States. She came all alone, age 19, unable to speak English and had a tag around her neck. John and Anna courted one month and were married Jul 3, 1889. Grandfather John became an American citizen on Nov 4 1893. His paperwork was to the King/Emporer of Austria in regards to becoming a citizen here(jsd) He died of appenditicitis September 28, 1907 Father of Mary (Seasock), John, Anna (Stasek),Joseph, Matilda(Westwick), Emma (Dixon),Elizabeth(Fletcher),Helen (Johnston) and Verna(Bohmont)
