Description	:	John Paul Evertz was born April 27, 1922, a son of Anna Mary Kolasky Evertz and George Evertz, in Terry. His parents moved to Joliet in 1935, where John attended school. He worked on the family farm before joining the Merchant Marines in 1942. After the war, he returned to Joliet whee he met and married Ann Hanje on July 8, 1950. He farmed for a short period before he began a career in the timber industry working in sawmills in Darby, Missoula and Pablo. He retired from the Plum Creek Timber Co. in Pablo in 1983. He... Read More	John Paul Evertz was born April 27, 1922, a son of Anna Mary Kolasky Evertz and George Evertz, in Terry. His parents moved to Joliet in 1935, where John attended school. He worked on the family farm before joining the Merchant Marines in 1942. After the war, he returned to Joliet whee he met and married Ann Hanje on July 8, 1950. He farmed for a short period before he began a career in the timber industry working in sawmills in Darby, Missoula and Pablo. He retired from the Plum Creek Timber Co. in Pablo in 1983. He was an avid stock car racer/driver, supporter and enthusiast. He was a member of the Mission Valley Auto Racer for 24 years and served as president in 1975. Mr Evertz, 73, passed away October 30, 1995 at his home in Polson of cancer. Interment was in the Lakeview Cemetery at Polson. He was preceded in death by his parents, and an infant brother. He is survived by his wife; six children, Mark, Donna Whealon, Diana Baird, George, Kim Shorten, David and Joanne; two brothers, Bob and Fran and a sister Maryann Finley, 10 grandchildren and other relatives. ---condensed from The Terry Tribune 11-8-1995 p. 14
