Description	:	Longtime Woodland resident John Peter Ripp, 85, died May 16, 2002, at the Hospice Care Center. He was born April 26, 1917, in Lorretta, Neb., to William and Catherine (Mueller) Ripp and was raised in Spalding, Neb. He moved to Woodland in 1939. Mr. Ripp worked as a grader operator for the Cowlitz County Road Department. He retired in 1979. He was an avid horseman, a dairy farmer, a hunter and a fisherman. Mr. Ripp is survived by six sons, Jack Ripp of Bend, Ore., Robert Ripp, Richard Ripp, Gary Ripp and Jeff Ripp, all of Woodland; and Thomas Ripp of Anchorage, Alaska; four daughters, Colleen Huston, LaDonna Holms, Therese Zodrow and Lucy Dooley, all of Woodland; a brother, Bill Richmond of LaCenter, Wash.; a sister, Mary Highley of Hermiston, Ore.; 35 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. A rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Monday at St. Philip Catholic Church. A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church with The Rev. Joseph O'Shea officiating. The viewing will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday and Monday at Woodland Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Community Home Health and Hospice, P.O.
