Description	:	JOHN PYLE was born October 18, 1818, in Knox County, Ohio, and was the eldest child of Samuel and Mary Pyle. His father died June 21, 1824. His mother, Mary, was married again to David Moore, May 9, 1825, and moved to Parke County, Ind., in 1826. In 1828, Mr. Pyle entered the family of David Cassatt, with whom he remained until twenty-one years of age, living in Parke County, Ind., on the farm, until the year 1834, when, in company with the aforesaid Cassatt family, he came to Wabash County, remaining and fulfilling the obligations of a dutiful son... Read More	JOHN PYLE was born October 18, 1818, in Knox County, Ohio, and was the eldest child of Samuel and Mary Pyle. His father died June 21, 1824. His mother, Mary, was married again to David Moore, May 9, 1825, and moved to Parke County, Ind., in 1826. In 1828, Mr. Pyle entered the family of David Cassatt, with whom he remained until twenty-one years of age, living in Parke County, Ind., on the farm, until the year 1834, when, in company with the aforesaid Cassatt family, he came to Wabash County, remaining and fulfilling the obligations of a dutiful son until the age of his majority. He received such education as a new, backwoods country affords, and by industry and frugality, became possessor of a finely- improved farm, on which he died January 9, 1873. He was twice married. First to Sarah Ann Price, on the 12th day of January, 1847, who died May 13, 1849, leaving one daughter, now married to Samuel Kitsmiller. His second marriage, August 12, 1855, was with Maria Dawson, by whom he had four children— Emily Jane ( married to William Hurst), Elizabeth Ann ( married to Richard Lynn), John Wesley ( married to Ollie Morgan) and Rosa Lee ( yet unmarried). In his usefulness as a pioneer, his kindness as a parent and neighbor, his frugality and industry, he was equaled by few and excelled by none.
