| Description | : | An early pioneer of Douglas County, John operated a sawmill in the valley of the Upper West Plum Creek. Prominent in the area, he was the son-in-law of well-known pioneer Benjamin Quick. The first school in the area, a one-room schoolhouse was bulit on Cantril's land by Quick. The school became the commuinity meeting center and the small town of Glen Grove was esablished. Mrs. Clara Quick Cantril taught Sunday School until her untimely death in 1887.
