John R Weston was born February 25, 1953, in Henderson, NE to James and Thelma (Housley) Weston. He attended Sutton Elementary until his kindergarten year when his parents discovered the diagnosis of an intellectual disability. John attended Spencer Park (Lincoln, NE) and later Hope Training School (Hastings, NE). John was employed by Leverage Tools, Great Plains Container and Pizza Hut. He later retired to his home with the staff who loved and cared for him at Mosaic Homes in Hastings and Grand Island. John had many great loves in his life. John was an avid lover of all sports and most importantly, Nebraska Football, Kansas City Chiefs and the Kansas City Royals. Anyone who wanted to talk about sports and statistics enjoyed a great conversation with John. Another great love of John’s was his infinite love for family and correspondence to keep all tied together and he had a love for his Catholic faith that brought him peace during trying times. John struggled with his disability and mental illness, but John worked tirelessly to be treated first as a human being with special abilities. John is survived by his siblings, Ann (Gene) Teetor of Amarillo. TX; Bill (Judy) Weston of Juniata NE; Mary Lubbers of El Paso, TX and Jay Weston of Juniata NE; stepmother, Betty Weston of Hastings NE; stepsister, Elizabeth (Jim) Hardy of Hastings and numerous nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Thelma Weston; brother, Jim Weston and infant brother, Mark Weston; brother-in-law, Michael Lubbers and grandparents, Frank and Carrie Weston and Ray and Martha Ribble.
