John Rezek, resident of Butler county for 30 years and near David City for 27 years, passed away at 2 o'clock Sunday, July 10, at his farm home northeast of David City. His death was from old age and heart trouble. He had been ill for more than two years and bedfast for two weeks before his death. Funeral services were held at 9 a.m. Tuesday, July 12, at the Appleton Catholic church, of which Mr. Rezek was a member. The services were in charge of Rev. Father Skopal. Singing was by the Appleton church choir. The pallbearers were Rudolf Buresh, Joe Buresh, Frank Buresh, Edward Buresh, Milton Janovy and Rudolph Homolka, grandsons of Mr. Rezek. Burial was in St. Anthony Catholic cemetery at Bruno. Relatives in attendance at the funeral from elsewhere were a daughter, Mrs. Joseph Koubik, and family from Rogers, and a granddaughter, Mrs. Frank Blazka, and family from Cedar Bluffs. At the time of his death Mr. Rezek was aged 84 years. He was born at Malcin, Czecho-Slovakia, a son of Mike and Catherine Rezek, on July 1, 1848. He was married in July, 1870, to Frances Nadhanzl, at Krasne Hore. To them were born eight children, of whom five died in infancy. The surviving children, three daughters, are Mrs. Joseph Koubik of Rogers and Mrs. Anton Buresh and Mrs. Agnes Janovy of David City. The Rezek family arrived in America, May 30, 1900. They resided on a farm three miles east of Abie for three years and had resided on farms in the country surrounding David City for the past 27 years. Surviving Mr. Rezek are his wife and three daughters, twelve grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. He also leaves two half-brothers in Europe. Mr. Rezek was a very patient sufferer and took his illness as a matter of the life which was allotted him.
