Conrad and Anna Maria were from Northampton County, Pennsylvania. John was the oldest born son of his parents. John's parents were likely buried somewhere in Hemlock or Bloomsburg, PA. His father died in Sep 1830 and his mother died in 1840. John's grandfather was Johannes Reusswig/Reisswig/Reiswig. Johannes immigrated from Germany to the United States in 1742 aboard the ship Frances and Elizabeth. John's grandmother's name is unknown as she died young. Johannes remarried to a widow, Catharina Margeth Erb (widow of Lorentz Erb). Johannes and Catharina's place of burial is unknown. Both their burials were mentioned in the church records of Great Swamp Reformed Church in Upper Milford Twp., Northampton Co., PA. Johannes died Oct 9, 1787 and his widow died April 2, 1790. John married at least 3 times. The Michael Shoemaker Book lists the first wife of John as Margaret Vanatta. A land deed from 1833 shows his wife as Mary Vanatta, dau of Peter Vanatta. It is unkown at this time whether these are two different individuals or the same person. John's first wife died in 1832. He remarried, and his second wife Mary died in 1849. John's wife Mary was the sister to Catherine who married John's brother Jacob. Strangley enough, Mary and Catherine died within days of one another in 1849 leaving both John and Jacob as widowers. John's third wife was Sarah Girton Nicholas (widow of George Nicholas). John was a canal boatbuilder in Bloomsburg and a farmer.
