Description	:	Bob” Scroggs was born January 8, 1926 at Granger, Iowa to Forest Franklin “Jack” Scroggs and Dicie Lena (Mathews) Scroggs. He was the second of eight children. His family moved to Wilson Creek, Missouri when he was three years old. He lived in southern Missouri until he was sixteen. He moved to California where he worked in a canning factory. Read More	Bob” Scroggs was born January 8, 1926 at Granger, Iowa to Forest Franklin “Jack” Scroggs and Dicie Lena (Mathews) Scroggs. He was the second of eight children. His family moved to Wilson Creek, Missouri when he was three years old. He lived in southern Missouri until he was sixteen. He moved to California where he worked in a canning factory. Bob lived in California less than a year and moved back to Missouri. The family had plans to go to Wyoming and stopped to see relatives in the New Market area and stayed. At age 17, he went to work for Don Neely; at age 18, he began working for Paul Negley. Bob enlisted in the United States Army during World War II and was stationed in Germany for two years. Following his discharge, he returned to Clarinda and worked for a carpenter and then purchased Mobil Oil Station with Veryl Watts. Bob was united in marriage on May15, 1952 to Genevieve Watts and they divorced in 1985. They were blessed with one daughter, Rebecca. Bob managed Klean All Dry Cleaners for twenty years. In September, 1974, he managed the Clarinda Country Club for five years. Bob was very hands-on building cart sheds, bridges and was manager when the new east side 9 hole golf course was built. Following his Country Club employment, he used his experience to start a Dixon lawn mower dealership and landscaping business. Bob was an excellent landscaper and worked until his health no longer permitted him to work. Bob enjoyed working and life and had many hobbies, including hunting, fishing, flying planes, gardening, watching University of Nebraska football and Kansas City Royal baseball, Kansas City Chiefs football games and the Clarinda A’s baseball. He was a member and past president of the Flying Club, Fishing and Boating Club and the Clarinda Chamber of Commerce. Bob was a member of the First Christian Church, Clarinda where he had been a deacon and a board member. He loved gardening and always had a big garden. He was a hard worker and a jack of all trades. Bob could fix any motor or engine, fix or make anything using a sewing machine and he landscaped many yards in Clarinda. Bob was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Peggy Erickson, Harold Scroggs, Leonard Scroggs, Grace Derry and infant sister, Dorothy Lee. Survivors include his daughter, Rebecca Ascherl and her husband Alan of Clarinda, Iowa; grandchildren, Aleigh Ascherl of Waco, Texas and Austin Ascherl of Clarinda, Iowa; brothers, Jack Scroggs and wife Carmen of Pacific Junction, Iowa, Gene Scroggs and wife Phyllis of New Market, Iowa, sister, Leona Davison of Villisca, Iowa; many nieces, nephews and friends.
