Leona Mae Scroggs was born June 25, 1931 near Clever, Missouri to Forest Franklin "Jack" Scroggs and Dicie Lena (Mathews) Scroggs. She was a few minutes older than her twin brother, Leonard. Leona's father built a house on the back of a 1937 pickup and the family headed to California during Leona's youth. They returned to Hepburn, Iowa to visit Uncle Ray and Letha and stayed. Leona attended Clarinda High School and has a certificate from Palmer School of Handwriting. On October 24, 1948, Leona married Arnold Davison. They lived near Clearfield when they were first married and eventually moved to the family farm east of Braddyville. They celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary before Arnold's death in 2012. Arnold and Leona raised four children – Eddie, Debra, John, and Susan. Leona was a homemaker and when their youngest child started to school, she worked at Graham's Department Store in Clarinda. She later managed b.l.nathan, a gift store in Clarinda. Leona worked on the farm and as is true of the entire Scroggs family, raised a large garden. Being involved in the community was always important to Leona. She was actively involved in Ladies' Farm Bureau, Clarinda Hospital Auxiliary, Christian Women's Fellowship, vacation Bible school, and International Club. She was recognized as Page County Homemaker of the Year in 1989. She co-founded the Page County Fair Queen Contest. She co-founded the Craft Carnival and served as chairman for many years. She and Arnold also displayed their crafts around the area. They were members of the Braddyville Christian Church where they were very involved as well. Leona was also a very talented seamstress. She helped sew Deb's wedding dress, many pageant gowns for Susan, and shirts, suits, and dresses for the entire family. Leona loved to sing and sang on the radio when she was younger. She was also known for her pies, cookies, and noodles. Leona was the quintessential hostess, spending hours preparing events to make sure everyone had a good time. Leona was preceded in death by her husband Arnold; parents, Jack and Dicie; siblings, Peggy Erickson, Bob Scroggs, Harold Scroggs, Leonard Scroggs, Grace Derry, infant sister, Dorothy Lee; and grandson, Jeremiah Davison. Left to cherish memories are her children, Eddie Davison and wife Becky of Shell Knob, Missouri; Debra Henneman and husband Brian of Shell Knob, Missouri and Edinburgh, Texas, John Davison and partner Ron Hansen of Bellevue, Nebraska, Susan Meyerle and husband Jerry of Lincoln, Nebraska; grandchildren, Josh Davison and wife Shelly of Cassville, Missouri; Jake Davison and wife Tonya of Cassville, Missouri; Ana Meyerle of Lincoln, Nebraska; and Andrew Meyerle of Lincoln, Nebraska; great-grandchildren, Jeremiah Davison, Alexia Davison, Paige High, and Mackenzie High; brothers, Jack Scroggs and wife Carmen of Pacific Junction, Iowa, and Gene Scroggs and wife Phyllis of New Market, Iowa; many nieces, nephews, and friends.
