Description	:	John Peden John Robert Peden, 81, husband of Sara Weathers Peden, of 648 Winding Hollow Road, died Monday, April 7, 2008. Mr. Peden was born November 8, 1926 in Fork Shoals to the late Robert Wilton Peden and Ethel Abercrombie Peden. He retired as a rural mail carrier from the U.S. Postal Service, and was a member of the Rural Mail Carriers Association. He was a board member and volunteer at the Laurens County Crisis Center, and was an avid gardener. Read More	John Peden John Robert Peden, 81, husband of Sara Weathers Peden, of 648 Winding Hollow Road, died Monday, April 7, 2008. Mr. Peden was born November 8, 1926 in Fork Shoals to the late Robert Wilton Peden and Ethel Abercrombie Peden. He retired as a rural mail carrier from the U.S. Postal Service, and was a member of the Rural Mail Carriers Association. He was a board member and volunteer at the Laurens County Crisis Center, and was an avid gardener. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving in both World War II and Korea, and was a recipient of the Purple Heart Medal. He was a member of Beulah Baptist Church, where he served as the Brotherhood Director, a Deacon and a Trustee of the church cemetery. He taught the Men's Bible Sunday School Class for over thirty years, and served as the church groundskeeper for over fifteen years. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a son, Sam Peden and his wife Lynn; a daughter, Tammie Madden and her husband Phillip; a sister, Virginia Hendrix; four grandchildren, Carroll Peden, Garrett Peden, Clay Madden and Katie Madden; and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Alton and Helen Weathers. He was predeceased by a brother, Vernon "Bunt" Peden; and three sisters, Doris Smith, Betty Farrow and Nancy Lindley. Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Beulah Baptist Church, officiated by Dr. Eddy Mattison and Mr. Wofford Woods. Burial, with Military Honors, will follow in the church cemetery.
