Description	:	John R Palmer was the son of William Palmer and Permelia Higgs. He married Sarah A Van Eaton, daughter of Rebecca Lewis and Joshua Van Eaton, in Boone County, Indiana, on 19 Aug 1851. He was a resident of Rock Bluff, Nebraska, when he enlisted as a Wagoner on 10 Nov 1862 at the age of 33 years. Mustered in Co H 2ne Nebraska Cavalry on 13 Dec 1862. Mustered out 23 Dec 1863. NOTE: Headstone has Infantry as opposed to Cavalry.
