The family received friends at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, May 4, 2019, at Colonial Funeral Home Chapel followed by funeral services at 11:00 am. Burial was made in Glenn’s Chapel Cemetery. Mr. Grogan was born in Rockingham County on September 5, 1932, to the late Carl Grogan and Rosalea Grogan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Eleanor Joyce Grogan; son Mike Robertson; grandson Robert Hutson; brothers Clifford Grogan, Norman Grogan; and sisters Moncie Joyce and Faye Goad. He enjoyed farming and worked for the textile industry for many years. John was a graduate of Stoneville High School. He loved the outdoors especially hunting. Survivors include his children Charles E. “Gene” Robertson; daughter Glenda Lou Foulks; grandchildren Tracy Moore (Dany) , Christie Ore (Will), Melinda Poindexter (Brandon); great-grandchildren Jessica Easter (Matt), Reggie Manuel (Kelsey), Reagan Poindexter, Holden Poindexter, Cricket Moore, John Marley Moore, Jared Pruitt, Charlie Pruitt and great-great-grandchild, Hayden Easter. John will be missed by many including special friends Barbara Calvary and William Barham. The family received friends all other times at the home of Glenda Foulks, 415 Foulks Road, Madison, NC. Special appreciation is extended to the staff at Jacob’s Creek Nursing and Rehabilitation for their excellent care. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Rockingham County, P.O. Box 281, Wentworth, NC 27375. Colonial Funeral Home in Madison is serving the family.
