The victim, John Russell Morton RD 1 Swanton, was taken to Potomac Valley Hospital at Keyser, but was pronounced dead on arrival of extensive head injuries. His son, Dennis Morton, four, was admitted to the Keyser hospital with head injuries and abrasions and contusions, and was reported in "satisfactory" condition. Tfc. Robert C. Dishong of the State Police said the Morton’s were traveling east on the Savage River Road and failed to negotiate a right curve. The vehicle then struck the left side of a car operated by James M. Walker, 40, of Maidsville, W. Va. Hit Stopped Car Mr. Walker told police he saw the motorcycle coming and pulled as far off the highway as he could and stopped before the collision. The accident occurred about 11:35 a. m. three-fourths of a mile from Bloomington. Born in Westernport, Mr. Morton was a son of the late William and Lottie L. (Beeman) Morton. Mr. Morton was a veteran of the Korean War and was employed as a welder at the B & 0 Railroad; car shop in Keyser. He was a, member of the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employees and of Victory Post 155, American Legion. Father of Seven Also, surviving are his widow, Freda (Tasker) Morton; four other sons, John Jr., Edward A., Kenneth P. and Thomas A. Morton, all at home; two daughters, Janice L. and Debra E. Morton, also at home; two brothers, William Morton, Louisville, Ky., and Robert Morton, Antioch, Ill.; four sisters, Mrs. Wayne Gist and Mrs. Edward Biddle, both of Westernport; Mrs. Chester Smith, Barton, and Mrs. John Miller, Greenville, Pa.; a half-sister, Mrs. Clyde Combs, Rawlings; a half-brother, James Morton, serving with the Army, and a step-brother, Norman Smiley, serving with the Navy. The body is at the Boal Funeral Home Westernport, where friends will be received today from 7 to 9 p.m. and tomorrow from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be conducted Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the Westernport Church of the Brethren by Rev. Gene N. Eaton, pastor of Bloomington Methodist Church, and Rev. Leo Zeigler, pastor of the Church of the Brethren. Burial will be in Bloomington Cemetery.
