Mr. Schultz was 87 years old, having been born in Germany, Dec. 13, 1835. He came to America when he was 40 years old, locating first in Wisconsin. From there he came to Columbus 30 years ago and farmed for a number of years west of town before moving into the city. He is survived by his third wife and by two daughters, Mrs. Reka Murray and Mrs. Henry Lubker. Funeral services will probably be held at St. Bonaventure’s church Tuesday morning, but definite arrangements have not yet been completed. ___ The Humphrey Democrat, March 16, 1923, p. 1, col. 4 Former Humphrey Man Died in Columbus Saturday John Schultz, former Humphrey resident, died at his home in Columbus last Saturday morning, and funeral services were held on Tuesday morning of this week at the St. Bonaventure’s church, with interment in the parish cemetery. Mr. Schultz was stricken with paralysis a couple of weeks ago and this was primarily the cause of his death. The deceased resided in Humphrey until a few years ago when he went to Columbus to make his home. Mr. Schultz was born in Germany on the thirteenth day of December, 1835, and at the time of his death was 87 years of age. He spent nearly half of the allotted time of his life in the old country, coming to America when he was forty years of age. He located first in Wisconsin, and about thirty years ago he came to Nebraska and located at Columbus, farming for a number of years west of the city. On his removal from the farm he resided in Columbus for a time and then came to Humphrey, residing here a few years and then again moving to Columbus. He is survived by his third wife and by two daughters, Mrs. Recka Murray and Mrs. Henry Lubker.
