Description	:	THEIMER, JOHN SOLOMON DANIEL — John Solomon Daniel Theimer, son of John and Frances Thomas Theimer, was born December 17, 1888, on a farm northwest of Deshler, Thayer county, Nebraska. Read More	THEIMER, JOHN SOLOMON DANIEL — John Solomon Daniel Theimer, son of John and Frances Thomas Theimer, was born December 17, 1888, on a farm northwest of Deshler, Thayer county, Nebraska. The parents were member of the Lutheran church and their infant son was baptized by Pastor C. Buechler. Young John was about 10 years old when the family moved to Bruning, where the father operated a jewelry store. John, better known as “Sol” among his friends, attended the school of the community and enjoyed a happy boyhood. He also received the necessary instruction in the Christian faith, and guidance for Christian living from the sainted Pastor C. Degefoerde of Trinity Lutheran church. Palm Sunday, April 16, 1905, he was confirmed with a group of nine boys and six girls and received into communicant membership of the local congregation. The following year the Theimer's moved to Geneva, where John son found employment as a telephone lineman. October 19, 1912, he was married to Miss Hazel Mae Stover of Geneva. Six years later the Theimer’s moved to Hastings. They resided for 30 years before moving back to Geneva in 1948. The departed was a good husband and father, a man of kindly disposition and of industrious habits. He enjoyed good health almost all of his life and was able to work at his trade of electrician with zest and satisfaction. However, he became quite ill last summer and never regained his former health and strength. His daughter cared for him in his home until hospital care was indicated. He spent the last several months of his life in the York hospital. His illness laid a heavy burden of suffering upon him. In his great need, he turned to the god of his youth and “found in Him a resting place, and then his soul was glad.” He deeply appreciated the visits of several pastors and was able to make a good confession of his faith in his Savior. He passed away peacefully Tuesday forenoon, December 1, 1959. The length of his life was 70 years, 11 months and 14 days. He leaves a daughter, Helen Theimer, of Hastings; three sisters, Mrs. Celia Damm of Wheatridge, Col., Mrs. Wilma Roland of Compton, Cal., and Mrs. Julia Damm of Sacramento, Cal.; a brother, Henry Theimer, of Lincoln; eight nieces, nine nephews, and other relatives and many friends in the communities in which he had lived. Two infant sisters, his parents and his wife preceded him in death. Services for Mr. Theimer were held December 3 in the Kritner Farmer funeral home in Geneva. Pastor John Hieronymus of Trinity Lutheran church in Bruning officiated and preached the funeral sermon on the text, John 3:16. Mrs. Gerald Pickerell, accompanied by Mrs. Willard Foster, sang two hymns that had been especially dear to the departed, “Lead, Kindly Light” and “Abide with Me.” Pallbearers were James Matejka, Kenneth Heisey, Kenneth Kimbrough, William Hallman, Wayne Winchell and Jesse B.
