John got his Doctorate of Philosophy with a major Interdepartmental Area of Administration, Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln in 1997. In his first... Read More	John S. Clabaugh 68 of Lincoln passed away June 9, 2017. Born in Superior, NE to Ira & Dayle (Perryman) Clabaugh. John got his Doctorate of Philosophy with a major Interdepartmental Area of Administration, Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln in 1997. He retired as a Professor and Director of Art at NE Wesleyan University. In Lincoln, John wrote grants for the National Arts Education Association (NAEA) to keep alive his passion for the Arts and was instrumental in the creation of the Gladys Lux Center for the Arts. In his first teaching position at Grand Island Central Catholic, he ran an extensive artist-in-residence program and wrote many grants for the Grand Island public schools. As Kearney’s first Art Coordinator he wrote an elementary art curriculum, was a leader in the art community and helped establish the MONA (Museum of Nebraska Art). He was also the president of the Nebraska Art Association and held other offices in the Nebraska Arts Community. Aside of the Arts, John was an avid hunter and fisherman. After retiring John continued his love for art and beauty through his gardening and landscape design. Survivors include son Brent Clabaugh of Lincoln and grandsons Dylan and Lucah Clabaugh; daughter Lauren and husband Darin Platt of Nebraska City, NE and grandson Aden Platt; sister Mary Roberts and husband Jim of Superior, NE and nieces Karie Holt Thompson, Amanda Holt and Lindsey Holt; brother Rick Clabaugh and wife Linda of Beatrice, NE and nephews Nathan and Tyler Clabaugh; nephew Adam Clabaugh of Chicago, IL and many more cousins, nieces & nephews. Preceded in death by parents LaVerne and Dayle, sister Christy and brother Michael. Celebration of John’s Life will be held Friday, June 16, 2017 at 11:00am at Butherus, Maser & Love Funeral Home with a burial in Nelson, NE at the Nelson Cemetery at 11:00am Monday, June 19, 2017. Memorials to be designated at a later date. Burial will take place in Nelson, NE next to his parents.
