Description	:	John T. Dritshulas passed away Sept. 6, 2006, at his home in Helena after a long battle with cancer. He was born in Havre on Nov. 2, 1926, to Mary Francis Blue and Nick John Dritshulas. John grew up in Havre and attended Havre schools. He enlisted in the Army in 1945, serving in the Asiatic Pacific Theater, Philippine Islands and Japan. After his discharge in October 1946, he worked as a meat cutter, cattle buyer, bus salesman and finally a rancher in the Helena valley. He was born in Havre on Nov. 2, 1926, to Mary Francis Blue and Nick John Dritshulas. John grew up in Havre and attended Havre schools. He enlisted in the Army in 1945, serving in the Asiatic Pacific Theater, Philippine Islands and Japan. After his discharge in October 1946, he worked as a meat cutter, cattle buyer, bus salesman and finally a rancher in the Helena valley. He married Alice Alme Verploegen on Feb. 14, 1981, and they resided together in the Helena valley until his death. John enjoyed traveling to auctions, buying and selling equipment and just general "visiting" with people. He always had a story to tell and the time to tell it. John was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Alice; his stepmother, Katina Dritshulas; his sister, Anastasia (Mark) Bartlett, and their two daughters of Shoreline, Wash.; cousins, Bill (Judi) Dritshulas, along with numerous cousins in the Havre area; five stepchildren, Nicki Verploegen of Ludlow, Vt.; Nita (Gerald) Johnson, Karl (Shannon) Verploegen and Lance Verploegen, all of Havre; Paula (Jeff) Cory and granddaughters, Britin Leigh and Ryann Kathryn Schuster of Bozeman. John, per his wishes, will be cremated and interred at Fort Harrison following a private family ceremony. Memorial donations may be directed to St. Jude/Havre Central School in Havre. Hagler Anderson will be handling the cremation and burial arrangements. Published in the Helena Independent Record on 9/10/2006.
