Sterling, well-known waterman and seafood dealer, died at the McCready Memorial Hospital on Friday last after a lingering illness. He had been in ill health for the last four months. He was fifty-four years of age. Sterling, well-known waterman and seafood dealer, died at the McCready Memorial Hospital on Friday last after a lingering illness. He had been in ill health for the last four months. He was fifty-four years of age. The deceased was born and reared in Crisfield and was well known throughout the tidewater section of the Eastern Shore and leaves a host of friends who mourn his death. He was a member of Mt. Pleasant M. P. Church, and was also a member of Peninsula Council of the Junior Order of United American Mechanics. The many beautiful floral tributes at the grave testified to the esteem in which the deceased was held. The deceased is survived by his widow, Mrs. Lydia Sterling, and four sons, John Evans Sterling, Edwin Sterling, Loren Sterling and Raymond Sterling, all of Crisfield. Two brothers, James L. Sterling and Noah Sterling, both of this city, also survive. The funeral services in charge of the Jr. 0. U. A. M., were held at the home on Sunday afternoon, conducted by the Rev. W. L. Hoffman, pastor of Mt. Pleasant M. P. Church, assisted by Rev. John J. Bunting, pastor of Immanuel M. E. Church. Interment was in Crisfield cemetery. The Crisfield Times, May 19, 1933 pg.1 Sadie E. "Landon" Sterling was John T. Sterling's first wife and the mother of John, Edwin and Loren.
