Description	:	John Timothy Lougee whose death occurred May 10th after an illness of several months, was born Sept. 5, 1846, in Woodstock, N. B., the son of George W. and Sarah Eastman Lougee. Read More	John Timothy Lougee whose death occurred May 10th after an illness of several months, was born Sept. 5, 1846, in Woodstock, N. B., the son of George W. and Sarah Eastman Lougee. When he was six years old his parents moved to Dover where he had since lived with the exception of nine years passed in the Middle West. In 1881, because of his father's failing health, he returned to Dover where for several years they carried on the tanning and moccasin business, after which he was employed in the Brown mills where he was highly esteemed for his faithful and efficient work. Mr. Lougee was converted during the Jones and Allen revival meetings held in Foxcroft some 30 years ago and united with the Baptist church but later became a member of the Advent Christian church. His Christian life was of the highest type and he made himself almost invaluable in his church, serving as deacon and in other official capacities. He was not only a good churchman but a good citizen and neighbor, and friend, and his death is regretted by a great many people. Mr. Lougee was twice married, his first wife, who was Miss Mary J. Vail of Vineland, N. J., dying in 1870. To them one child was born, Bertha; the wife of Albert H. Dinsmore of St. Johnsbury, Vt., who survives, as does his second wife, who was Mrs. Esther S. Corvell of Saginaw, Mich. The funeral was held May 13th at the home on Pleasant street conducted by his pastor, Rev. S. M. Wales, assisted by former pastor, Rev. M. C. Burtt of Presque Isle, and by Rev. Harry W. True of Hartland, N. B. There was a good attendance of neighbors and friends and a large delegation of Odd Fellows of which order he was an esteemed member, their burial service being performed in the Dover cemetery. The bearers were Lewis A. Wilson, C. E. Jackson, Charles A. Merrill and John H. Shaw. The Piscataquis Observer, 27 May 1920, p. 1 J. T. Lougee was the first employee of the American Woolen Co. to die here and the third in the state since the insurance plan was adopted. The amount of the insurance, $1500. was paid very promptly.
