Description	:	According to family tradition, John was born in or about 1732 on Long Island, in the colony of New York. His parentage and marriage information have not been discovered. However, it is known that on 3 Feb. 1775 he had three children baptized at St. George's Episcopal Church in Hempstead, NY. John was a Loyalist during the Revolutionary War. He is supposed to be the brother of Loyalist Benjamin Titus, who died in Upper Canada (Ontario). John and his family were evacuated from New York aboard the ship John and Jane in 1784, arriving in St. John, Nova Scotia (now New Brunswick).... He is supposed to be the brother of Loyalist Benjamin Titus, who died in Upper Canada (Ontario). John and his family were evacuated from New York aboard the ship John and Jane in 1784, arriving in St. John, Nova Scotia (now New Brunswick). He had a wife--possibly two different wives--named Elizabeth. Ship and land records show that he had at least 7 children, 4 of whom survived to adulthood. He is called a sailor, farmer, and shoemaker, and is also referred to as a constable in New Brunswick. His death year is given as 1804, though administration on his estate was not granted (to his son Jonathan) until 30 March 1805. He was a resident of Waterborough, Queen Co., NB, where he is presumed to have died.
