Pallbearers were Lowell Newell and Bart Leach of Laurens, Adolph Schreyer, Henry Monkelien, Andrew Peterson and Horace Winegarden of Pocahontas. Burial was in the Washington cemetery at Havelock. John W. Buffinton, son of Zedekiah and Cyrena Buffinton, was born at Marshalltown on July 11, 1864. On October 15, 1895, he was united in marriage to Miss Cora Harding at Rolfe, and to this union four children were born, two of whom preceded Mr Buffington in death. They were Ethel who died in 1907 and Ellenor who died in 1896. Mr. Buffinton was engaged in farming until he retired and came to Pocahontas to make his home. He was an honest, cheerful and kind man and was loved by all who knew and was held in the highest esteem by all who knew him. He was a faithful believer in God and a good supporter of his church. He is survived by his wife and two sons, Paul and Calvin, both of Laurens, and 10 grandchildren. Relatives and friends from a distance at the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Charles Woodworth and daughter, and Mr. and Mrs. Guy Buffinton of Denison, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Buffinton, Manilla, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Fey, and Mrs. Nettie Repp, Perry, and Mrs. Ibe of Sioux City.
