The son of the late Simon and Caroline Grelk McCarty he was born October 11, 1899 near Farmington. On September 16, 1918 he married Myrtle E. Saltzgaver at Fort Madison. He came to Keokuk from Des Moines with the Rock Island railroad 35 years ago and has lived here since. He was a switchman and engine foreman for the railroad at the time of his death. He was a member of the Trinity Methodist church, Keokuk lodge No. 13, 1. O. O. F. and the switchman's Union of America. Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, Ralph of San Mateo, Calif., a grandson Michael Cyrus McCarty, a sister, Mrs. Margaret Hall, Burlington, a brother, H. F. McCarty of Keokuk, nieces, nephews and other relatives. The Odd Fellows will hold their service in the Schmidt Memorial Home tonight at 7:30 0'clock. Contributor: Iowa Girl (47454989) •
