Bowen, son of John Wesley Bowen and Elizabeth (Durant) Bowen, was born in Canal Winchester, Franklin County, Ohio, July 18, 1873, and died at his home in Canal Winchester, Ohio, January 17, 1946, aged 72 years, 5 months and 29 days. His early training both in school and church, was acquired in this vicinity where he spent his entire life. In early youth and young manhood he was a member of the United Brethren Church then in later years, April 2, 1939 he was received into membership in David Lutheran Church, Canal Winchester, Rev. V. D. Ridenour, Pastor. To this church he remained faithful until his death. He was united in marriage to Miss Minnie H. Krumm on November 25, 1897 by Rev. Theo. H. E. Eich. The happy couple spent their almost 48 years of married life in Canal Winchester. John Bowen is well known by the entire community as the town blacksmith, at which trade he labored for near 50 years. It was his pastors privilege to minister to him in his last sickness and he was always anxious to partake of all of the privileges that is offered the christian from the Word of God. Those who still live to mourn their loss are: His bereaved wife; 2 daughters, Mrs. Mary Minor, Columbus, Ohio, and Mrs. Antonia Reef, Basil, Ohio; 1 son, Wesley Frederick, Columbus, Ohio; 5 grandchildren, and an entire community of friends. Card of Thanks We wish to sincerely thank the friends, relatives and neighbors for their messages of sympathy extended during the illness and death of our husband and father, John W. Bowen. Especially for the beautiful floral tributes, Rev. Ridenour for his consoling words and Mr.Grimes and Sons for their efficient services. The Family Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon, January 19, 1946 in David Lutheran Church, Canal Winchester, Ohio, Rev. V. D. Ridenour, paster. Burial in Union Gorve cemetery by J. E.
