KEELING: The death occurred on Friday, April 2, 1971, at his late residence, 133 Second Ave, W., Shelburne, of John Wesley Keeling. He was born Sydenham Twp., Grey County, on May 13, 1910 third son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Keeling. The family moved from Owen Sound to Amaranth Twp. in 1921. He farmed on Lot 14, Con. 7, Amaranth, until 1969, when due to ill health he retired to Shelburne. An ardent lover of horses for some years he had trained and raced his own standard breds. Surviving are his wife, the former Hilda Brown, Reg. N., a son, Elgin, with IBM in Hamilton, and a daughter, Joyce, Toronto, a stewardess with Air Canada; two brothers, Reginald of Grand Valley; Ellwood, of Shelburne, a sister, Regina (Mrs. Geo. Legate), Hamilton. Another sister, Reta (Mrs. Percy Nurse), predeceased him in 1947. The funeral was held Monday, April 5th, when a complete service in the Gamble Funeral Home, Shelburne, was conducted by Rev. J. Lindsay, of Trinity United Church. Temporary entombment was in Shelburne mortuary. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Orangeville. The pallbearers were six nephews, Jim and Earl Keeling, Howard Squirrel, Bill Young, Alan and Bill Brown. Flower bearers were nephews, Steven Brown and Jim Cole and a neighbor and friend, Kenneth Stock.
