Moore, a resident on east McLain street, died quite suddenly at eight o'clock Wednesday morning at his home. The Osceola Sentinel", Osceola, Iowa, November 18, 1926, page 7. John Wesley Moore John Wesley Moore was born to John and Eliza Moore in Fayette county, Ohio, April 5, 1852. He passed away at his home in Osceola, Iowa, after a short severe illness, on November 3, 1926, being at the time of his death 74 years, 6 months and 28 days of age. At the age of eighteen years he came in a covered wagon with his mother, brothers and sisters to Decatur county, Iowa, and resided there until 1917, when he came to Osceola, Iowa. In his early boyhood he united with the Methodist church in which church he retained membership until he put his membership in the Brethren church forty-one years ago. His honest upright Christian life has been an ... well as to his acquaintances. It gave him strength and help in the later months of his life and sickness. It was due to his faith in the good and true which has led relatives and friends to speak of him as a wonderful husband, father, neighbor, and friend. In 1879 he was married to Lydia Louisa Green who is left to survive her husband. To this union eight children were born, the eldest, E. Orlo, preceding his father in death two years ago. Those surviving are: Mrs. F. P. Shy of Rupert, Idaho, F. S. Moore of Leon, Iowa, Mrs. A. W. Bowman and Mrs. C. W. Wolfe of Osceola, Iowa, Mrs. Lloyd Wallace of Weldon, Iowa, Edythe and Vera, also of Osceola. Four sisters survive the brother Mrs. Ella Machlan, Indianola, Ia., Mrs. Rosa Bennett, St. Joseph, Mo., Mrs. Mary Johnston, Woodburn, Iowa, and Mrs. S. M. Graham, Papillion, Nebraska, besides other relatives he has left twenty-one grandchildren and one great grandchild. Mr. Moore's death came as a shock to everyone, even the close relatives who knew his physical condition was not the most favorable and had not been for a few months. We are glad that the end came so peacefully and was not accompanied by an lingergering sickness. The hope now is that there may be a happy reunion in the place of eternal peace and rest where the many mansions are after this earth's tasks are done and each has gone to his reward. Short funeral services, conducted by Rev. Bashor, pastor of the Osceola Brethren church, were held at the home at one o'clock Friday afternoon and the service proper held at the Christian church in Van Wert, Iowa. Interment was made in Van Wert cemetery."
