The bereaved ones have the sympathy of their many friends." The Sentinel, Osceola, Iowa, March 14, 1935, page 7. Lydia Louise Moore Lydia Louisa Moore, oldest daughter of William K. and Mary A. Green, was born in Green county, Pennsylvania, on the 25th day of May, 1862, and departed this life on the 5th day of March 1935, being at the time of her passing almost seventy three years of age. When she was but three years old she came with her parents to Ia., and lived for a few years near Garden Grove, afterword moving to what became in time the old Green homestead, just east of Fairview, where she grew to womanhood. On the 25th day of January, 1879, she was married to John W. Moore and to this union were born eight children, as follows: Orlo Moore, who departed this life on the 3rd day of August, 1924, leaving his beloved wife and seven children who have since made their home at Indianola, Iowa; Edna Shy, of Rupert, Idaho; Myra Bowman of Osceola; Frank Moore of Leon; Lois Wallace of Weldon; Eva Wolfe of Murray, and Edythe and Vera Moore, of Osceola. The Moore family have lived practically all their lives in this vicinity, a number of years near Crown and later a few years near Fairview, and since 1917 in Osceola, where Mr. Moore, the husband and father, passed to the life beyond on the 3rd day of November, 1926. The wife, in whose honor we meet today, continued to live in Osceola, until the time of her passing, a few days ago. Mrs. Moore was converted when still a very young woman, and united with the M. E. church at Fairview. Afterward she united with the Brethren church, where she held membership through the years, until the time of her passing, first at what is familiarly called the ‘Old Franklin Church' and later at the church near her late home in Osceola. In passing she leaves one son and six daughters as named above, one sister, Mrs. A. E. Price of Van Wert, also twenty-four grand children and nine great grand children, who will each feel most keenly their loss. We are glad to add, that during her last sickness, which lasted more than a month, and was very severe from the first, she received every consideration and care, that loving hearts could suggest, and that skillful hands could render. At one o'clock Thursday, March 7th, 1935, there was held a short service by her friends and neightbors, in her honor, at her late home in Osceola, after which the body was brought to the Christian church in Van Wert, where the funeral service was held. The music was furnished by a double quartette of Van Wert singers, with Mrs. P. L. Browns presiding at the piano, The hymns selected were: ‘Hymns of Faith' which have stood the test of time and were thought to be the ones much loved by the departed. P. L. Browns, pastor of the Van Wert Christian church, assisted in the opening service, after which Lewis Sears, himself a member of the church of her faith, and an old time friend of the family, brought to our waiting hearts, the sermon message. The body was the taken to the Van Wert cemetery, and lovingly and tenderlay laid to rest beside that of her husband.
