Description	:	John Wesley Moore was born in Appanoose Co., Iowa, March 6, 1856, died in Lebanon, Kansas, November 27, 1916, aged 60 years, 8 months and 21 days. On September 28, 1879 Mr. Moore was united in marriage with Miss Julia A. Whitinger who departed from this life just a little more than nine months ago, or to be accurate February 10, 1916. Twelve children were born to this union, eleven of them are living, namely, Dennis of Oklahoma, Ira of Colorado, Cora, Nellie, Grace, Pearl, Bertha, Ray, Flossie, Cleo and Ivan, all of Lebanon. Besides these children one brother and nine grandchildren survive. This family has grown up in Smith County. Mr. and Mrs. Moore came here 32 years ago. Thru thrift and perseverance they acquired a good comfortable home which will now be the support for the family. Just when it seemed time for the parents to relax a little from physical labors God called them to spiritual labors of a glorious and real heavenly nature. Brother Moore was a descendant from a christian family, his father was a minister in the Methodist Episcopal church. He was converted 42 years ago, being just 18 years of age when he enlisted in the cause of Christ. So far as we know our brother has been faithful thru all of the various changes during these years. Death did not alarm him in the least. He arranged all of his business affairs in a thoughtful and deliberate manner. After all was settled he told the children it would be but a day or so until he would go. So on Monday at 2:55 he quietly and peacefully, passed out to be with God. If there is a sting to death it is because of sin, but blessed are the dead who die in the Lord. The funeral took place from the M. E. church on Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock.
