Description	:	Jack Hemmer, 43, Columbia Falls High School teacher and coach, died Tuesday morning, September 27th, of a heart attack. After completing his first period class Tuesday morning, he complained of chest pains and drove himself to the Columbia Falls Clinic where his wife, Carmen, worked. The ALERT air ambulance was called and landed in the near by Glacier National Bank parking lot; however, he died a short while later at the clinic. Jack was born June 1, 1945 in Chester and attended grade school at Lothair. He graduated from Chester High School in 1963 and was Valedictorian of his class. He was also the first president of the newly formed Science Club at CHS. He received a bachelor's degree in math and physics from Montana State University in 1967 and a master's degree in education from MSU in 1974. He served in the U.S. Army from 1969-71 in Korea and was honorably discharged as a first lieutenant. Jack and Carmen Kennedy were married in Billings in June of 1971 and that fall he taught math and physics at Columbia Falls High School where he also was a freshman football coach for several years. Jack was beginning his 18th year of teaching in Columbia Falls and was active in the District 6 Education Association. He was president the past two years and was currently president of St. Richard's Parish Council. He was also a summer ranger in Glacier National Park for many years. Surviving are his wife, Carmen, and three children, Sara 15, Scott 13, and Staci 11, all of the family home south of Columbia Falls; his mother, Nora Hemmer of Lothair; two brothers, Ray Hemmer of Lincoln, and Bob Hemmer of Belgrade; five sisters, Mrs. Norm (Anna-Marie) Anderson, Mrs. Carl (Janice) Mattson, both of Chester, Mrs. Wally (Marlene) Howery of Shelby, Kathy Hemmer of Billings, and Mrs. Mike (Carol) Horinek of San Diego, California. Jack was preceded in death by his father, Frank Hemmer. Services were at St. Richard's Catholic Church. Burial in St. Richard's Catholic Cemetery.
