Description	:	LOTHAIR - Nora Cecilia Hemmer, 82, died peacefully on Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2002, at a Chester hospital. Vigil prayers will be Friday at 8:30 p.m. at St. Mary's Church in Chester. Mass and resurrection will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Church. Burial will follow at the Lothair Cemetery. Nora was born on the family farm north of Chester on Nov. 17, 1919, to Anselm and Mary (Friel) Hull. She attended the Grauman country school near the farm and graduated from St. Thomas High School in Great Falls in 1938. She returned to the Chester community and met her future husband, Frank Robert Hemmer, at a CYO dance. They were married at St. Mary's Church in Chester on Sept. 17, 1940. They settled on their farm west of Lothair, where Nora worked diligently as a homemaker and mother of eight children. Nora and her husband were married 45 years when Frank died on Dec. 30, 1985. Nora continued to live in their farm home until 1996, when her health began to fail. She moved to Chester to be near family and friends. She had several hospitalizations the last four months. Nora was an active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and served as a CCD teacher for several years. When their kids were young, they enjoyed summertime weekend outings to Tiber Lake for fishing, boating and picnicking. In later years, they made several memorable trips to Texas, California and Florida to visit relatives. Nora had many hobbies, such as cross-stitch, embroidery, flower gardening, and playing cards, especially pinochle, whist and solitaire. She was a wonderful cook and baker and loved "sweets" of all kinds. She was an avid sports fan for high school athletics, NFL and the Los Angeles Dodgers baseball team. Nora loved her grandchildren and was recently collecting the new state quarters for all of them. Nora was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; son, Jack; brothers, Michael and Raphael Hull; and sisters, Catherine Hull "Sister Mary Louise," Genevieve Gagnon, Suzanna Nickol and Patricia Schaller. Survivors include her sons, Raymond (Sue) Hemmer of Lincoln and Bob (Earlene) Hemmer of Belgrade; daughters, Anna Marie (Norm) Anderson and Janice (Carl) Mattson, all of Chester, Marlene (Wally) Howery of Shelby, Kathy (Patrick) Lynch of Minneapolis, Minn., and Carol (Mike) Horinek of Tucson, Ariz.; daughter-in-law, Carmen Hemmer of Kalispell; 15 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother, James (Marcella) Hull of Chester; sister, Sister Marleen Hull of Spokane; brothers-in-law, Ernest Gagnon of Chester, Charles (Helen) Hemmer of Shelby and Jerry (Betty) Hemmer of Billings; sisters-in-law, Jeanne Hull of Chester, Analeen (Bob) Zeeck and Dorothy Hemmer, all of Billings; and numerous nephews and nieces.
