Description	:	John William Sindelar, son of Alois and Mary (Kurtenbach) Sindelar, was born July 30, 1935 near Cedar Rapids, NE. He attended grade school at St. Anthony’s Catholic School and graduated from Cedar Rapids High School in 1953. He began working for Massmans; first at the filling station and then driving truck. He later purchased and operated the filling station before selling it and moving to Omaha to work for Independent Metals. Read More	John William Sindelar, son of Alois and Mary (Kurtenbach) Sindelar, was born July 30, 1935 near Cedar Rapids, NE. He attended grade school at St. Anthony’s Catholic School and graduated from Cedar Rapids High School in 1953. He began working for Massmans; first at the filling station and then driving truck. He later purchased and operated the filling station before selling it and moving to Omaha to work for Independent Metals. On Sept. 3, 1956, Jack married Udine Loy Fisher at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. They lived in Cedar Rapids and helped Jack’s parents operate the bar for two years, before moving to Columbus, NE where Jack worked for Dowd Oil, Behlen Manufacturing and driving truck for Massmans. They moved to St. Edward in 1961 and Jack worked the next 40+ years for Behlen Mfg. and BMC Trucking, along with operating his company Handy Strap. He retired from trucking in 2008, but continued operating Handy Strap, making and repairing straps, tarps and other semi truck equipment. Jack was a member of St. Edward Catholic Church and the St. Edward Knights of Columbus Council. He enjoyed fishing, playing horseshoes, and spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is survived by his wife Udine of St. Edward; five children: Mike (Dianne) Sindelar, Doug Sindelar, David (Ruby) Sindelar, Pam Scheiber, and Terry Sindelar, all of St. Edward; 10 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; one brother: Larry (Mary) Sindelar of Columbus, NE; along with several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Jack was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers: Norman and Robert Sindelar.
