Description	:	John William Naeve (1908-1990) John William Naeve, second son of Claus and Christena Friedrichsen Naeve was born February 16, 1908 on the farm his Grandfather Johann Naeve homesteaded near Gilmore City, Iowa. John died January 29, 1990 at the Dallas County hospital, Perry, Iowa at the age of 81 years, 11 months and 13 days. John attended country schools and Bradgate Consolidated School. John died January 29, 1990 at the Dallas County hospital, Perry, Iowa at the age of 81 years, 11 months and 13 days. John attended country schools and Bradgate Consolidated School. His family moved to Peoples Township in Boone County in 1919. He attended Peoples Township Country School and then his family moved to Ogden where they lived for two years. In 1923 Johns father bought a farm in Peoples Township. John graduated from Woodward High School in 1921. Johns cousins Walt Naeve and Wilma Naeve Angell lived with his family for 9 years. John was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He was a member of Mt. Olivet Lutheran Church, Perry, Iowa. John entered the Army in June of 1943. He served with the Air Force in the Pacific theatre. He was an airplane mechanic. John was discharged December 5, 1945 at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas and returned to the farm, living with his parents until their deaths. He then made his home with his brother and his sister-in-law, Lou and Elsie. On October 2, 1976 John was united in marriage to Kathryn Phipps Bodansky. They made their home on the Bodansky home farm. John was a kind man and well respected by all who really knew and loved him. He was a farmer and loved spending a lot of time in the farm shop. He had the of a craftsman when working with metal. He was preceded in death by his parents. John is survived by his wife Kathryn; two step-daughters, Dea Oellien of Salina, Kansas; and Nancy Bodansky of Des Moines; 3 step-grandsons, Kevin and Darren Oellien and Tim Clay. He is also survived by his brother Lou and his wife Elsie Naeve of Bouton; 1 nephew, Carvel and his wife Phyllis of Woodward; and two great-nieces Kristie Brown and Sue Naeve. Memorial services were held Wednesday January 31 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Pauls Lutheran Church, Bouton, Iowa. Pastor David Guetzke conducted the service and also sang How Great Thou Art. Kristie Naeve Brown was the organist. Family burial of the cremains will be in Peoples Township Cemetery, Boon County, Iowa. Hastings Funeral Home, Perry, Iowa
