One of Our Best Citizens is Called From Our Midst __________________ John William Price, one of the oldest and most respected citizens of Dent township died at his home at 4 o'clock p.m. on Tuesday, June 6, 1905 after several months of painful suffering from mitrial disease of the heart. The subject of this sketch was born at Hilsborough, Highland county, Ohio on May 27, 1855 and was therefore but fifty years and nine days old when he answered his ultimate summons to lay life's burdens down and rest. He removed from his native state to Iowa with his parents when but two years of age and continued to reside there until he removed to Cheyenne county. There [in Iowa] he met and wooed and won Miss Maggie Frain whom he led to the altar on February 6, 1879 at Red Oak, Iowa. To this union six children were born, four sons and two daughters, five of whom with the widowed wife, three brothers, a mother, and a circle of friends mourn his untimely death. One son preceded him to the spirit world. Mr. Price came with his family to Cheyenne county in October 1885 and for nearly nineteen years was one of our most highly respected citizens. He was honest, thrifty and progressive, a true friend, a kind indulgent father, and a loyal devoted husband. He will long be missed in the community wherein he resided. Funeral services over the remains were conducted by Rev. E. V. Allen at Lawn Ridge school house Wednesday afternoon at four o'clock, after which loving hands tenderly consigned his ashes to mother earch in the Lawn Ridge cemetery there to await the second coming. A very large number of friends and neighbors followed the remains to their last resing place. The profound sympathy of the entire community is extended to the bereaved family in this sad hour of their deep affliction.
