Carroll of near Bacon Chapel, Everett of near Shelbyville, Martin and Zeta at home. Funeral services were held at Bacon Chapel Tuesday morning at 11 o'clock, conducted by Rev. B. B. Harvey. Ray here Tuesday and a large crowd from his home neighborhood and this neighborhood filled the church. —John William Ray died at his home near Duncan Chapel Sunday night and was buried in the cemetery here Tuesday. The funeral was preached by his pastor Rev. B. B. Harvey of Shelbyville. He had been a sufferer for the past four years but without a murmur. He leaves to mourn his departure, a wife and two daughters, Miss Zeta at home and Mrs. P. H. Carroll of this neighborhood, two sons, Martin at home and Everett living near home; one brother living near Hagers Grove and one sister at St. Joe and a host of relatives and friends. Ray passed away at his home, three and a half miles southwest of Shelbyville, Sunday afternoon April 23, at five o'clock after a lingering illness. The deceased was born Dec. 31, 1858. He was a devoted husband and good kind father and will not only be missed by his family but by his many friends, he leaves a wife, two sons and three daughters to mourn their loss. Funeral services were held at Bacon Chapel Tuesday morning at eleven o'clock conducted by Rev. M. P. Mumpower of Shelbyville.
