Highland Recorder February 10, 1950 John Willie Gutshall son of Jacob Luther and Maggie Corbett Gutshall, was found at 6 a.m. February 2, at the Coal & Coke Company mines, at Norton, W. Va. where he had spent 28 years working as operator of a coal cutting machine. He was rushed by ambulance to Elkins Davis Hospital where he was pronounced dead from a heart attack. He was born September 22, 1888 at Mustoe, Va., being at the age of 51 years 4 months & 11 days. He married Minnie Gay Gillespie and to this union 7 children were born three of whom survive: Mrs. Will Doyle Mustoe. Mrs Naomi Wamsley of Indian Head, Md., Clarence Gutshall of Junior, W. Va. On March 1, 1922 his wife died of pneumonia. He later married Vallie Rucker and to this marriage two children were born Evelyn and Charles at home. One brother Ellis of Norton and nine grandchildren and other relatives survive. A Funeral was conducted at his home Sunday morning at 9:30 a.m. by his pastor Rev. Frank Brandon, Baptist minister of Belington , where he attended. He was a Sunday School teacher for over five years. He was brought to Mustoe at 2 p.m., where the final rites were conducted by Rev. A O Turnbow, he joining the Victory Chapel Church when a young man. He was laid to rest in the Family cemetery. Runnr Funeral Home of Bellington was In charge.
