| Description | : | John Youmans, the first son of Peter and Sarah (Perrigo) Youmans was born in New Jersey and migrated west to Butler County, Ohio before 1820. Like his father, John was a farmer in Morgan Township, near Paddy's Run. In 1832, John Youmans married Rachel Gwilym, a daughter of Morgan and Elizabeth (Evans) Gwilym. Rachel died a mere 11 months later, just after giving birth to their son Morgan Gwilym Youmans.
